If you’ve read my review of the Total Gym XLS then you’ll already know that I’m not one of its biggest fans, however the Total Gym 1800 Club is a different prospect, or is it? Find out what I think of this effort from Total gym in my Total Gym 1800 Club review below….
My Review of the Total Gym 1800 Club
As per the Total Gym XLS, the 1800 Club is relatively expensive for what it is, however it does come in at a somewhat more affordable price at around $350. Compared to the Total Gym XLS at $1000 the Club 1800 seems like a complete bargain.
Previous versions of this home gym included the 1700 club, which didn’t include several of the new additions to the Total Gym 1800 Club. One of the better inclusions on the newer model is the extended width of the glide board, which for bigger guys/gals is a well received upgrade I’m sure. Other upgrades include an additional ab board attachment, auto lock height adjustment and more.
If you’re looking to build muscle with this machine then you’ll be bitterly dissapointed, the way the gym works makes it ideal for those looking to tone up and improve their flexibility, as it offers no resistance (only a % of your bodyweight), so strength gains are very limited.
If you’re short of space then these particular home gyms are a great alternative to the larger heavy duty multi-station home gyms. The Total Gym 1800 Club does take up quite a bit of space whilst you’re doing all the different exercises. However, you do have the option to fold it away which the multi-stations gyms don’t offer.
- Larger glideboard for workout comfort
- Auto Lock height adjustment
- New Ab Crunch Board Attachments
- Folds easily to slide under a bed or in a closet
- A premium choice with a dramatic new color
- Parts warranty: 1 year
- Frame warranty: Lifetime
- Extras: Workout DVD, flip chart, exercise mat
Would I recommend this home gym? Well, in short yes I would. Whilst I may not seem that overly enthusiastic about Total Gym’s on a whole, I feel the 1800 Club is a much better alternative to the Total Gym XLS. It serves a purpose for those not interested in gaining muscle and provides a fun workout within a much more realistic price range. If I were to recommend any Total Gym it would definitely be the Total Gym 1800 Club.
